Manage China to Panama Cargo From Start to Finish
Every shipment is different, but our goal is always to get your cargo to Panama on time and without unnecessary delays.

We arrange cargo collection based on your shipping plans to avoid situations such as missing or insufficient shipments or delays caused by inconsistent delivery times from the suppliers.

Instead of shipping separately, we consolidate your cargo at our warehouse and organize everything into one shipment. Lower shipping costs and much simpler cargo management.

Panamanian customs pay close attention to shipping documents. Before your cargo leaves China, GWT checks invoices, packing lists, HS codes, and import licenses to help reduce unnecessary customs delays, additional charges, and document corrections after arrival.

We recommend the most suitable transportation solution according to your cargo type, delivery schedule, and final destination, helping balance shipping cost and transit time.

Thanks to our long-term cooperation with major shipping lines, GWT helps you secure stable space and more competitive freight rates during the busy shipping season.

GWT takes proactive measures to prepare in advance and continuously follows up on the customs clearance and port progress, reducing the risk of your goods being detained at the port.

Based on your final destination, cargo type, and delivery plan, GWT helps you choose between Balboa and Colón, reducing inland transportation costs and making final delivery more efficient.

Whether your cargo is going to Panama City, David, the Colón Free Zone, or another destination, GWT arranges reliable inland transportation and keeps your shipment moving until it reaches its final delivery point.
Why Panama Shipments Get Delayed — How GWT Helps Avoid It
When shipping from China to Panama, many customers will face these troubles:
Free zone document error: The Colón Free Zone is very popular. Incorrect document content, incorrect HS code, incomplete license; the goods may be detained for several days. However, GWT’s advanced checks can reduce delays by at least 80 percent
Destination port selection: Balboa Port for Pacific cargo, Colón Port for Atlantic and free Zone services. Choosing the right port can reduce transportation time and lower the difficulty of inland distribution
Inland transportation challenges: From the port to Panama City, David, or a small town, it is necessary to arrange truck, container pick-up, and inspection times. When encountering the rainy season or holidays, it is necessary to make prior plans
Check the documents in advance, confirm the port and inland routes, and communicate more with the GWT logistics team. The vast majority of delays can be avoided.

Turn One Shipment into Multiple Latin American Markets
For many importers, Panama is not just a port where goods arrive. It is more like a regional distribution center in Latin America.
Many Latin American customers purchase goods from China in cities such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Ningbo, etc., and send them to the Colón Free Zone in Panama for batch transfer to markets in Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and other Central American countries. This not only reduces the overall logistics costs but also enables customers to flexibly arrange their shipping plans according to market sales conditions.
When GWT handles the goods of the Colón Free Zone, we will assist our clients in arranging consolidation, containerization, warehousing, transshipment, and subsequent transportation planning in advance. For customers with long-term inventory requirements, we will also plan more suitable shipping solutions based on the transportation needs of different countries and destinations in advance, helping our clients improve the overall supply chain efficiency.
Real cases studies|Shiping from China to Panama

In September 2025, the import manager of a well-known Panamanian importing company first contacted GWT at a logistics exhibition in Shenzhen. During the visit, the customer toured our office and self-operated warehouse in China to learn more about our company, qualifications, and shipping capabilities.
After reviewing GWT’s qualifications and discussing their shipping requirements, the customer contacted us again the following month to request a quotation for shipping five containers of sofas from China to Balboa, Panama.
The shipment was purchased under FOB Shenzhen terms from a supplier in Foshan. At that time, China–Panama shipping was in the peak season. Ocean freight rates were increasing almost every week, and vessel space was extremely limited. We understood that unexpected freight increases could significantly affect the customer’s import costs and delivery plan.
Thanks to our long-term cooperation with major shipping lines, GWT secured sufficient vessel space for all five containers and maintained the most competitive freight rates available during that period. This allowed the customer to avoid repeated price increases and ship the cargo according to the planned sailing schedule to Balboa Port.
Before the vessel arrived in Panama, our documentation team had already prepared and checked all the required shipping documents and submitted them to the customer’s customs broker in advance, which helped the customs clearance process proceed smoothly after the cargo arrived at Balboa.
The customer was satisfied with our shipping services. Since then, GWT has become their long-term freight forwarder in China, continuing to support their regular shipments from China to Panama.

After the successful shipment of five containers of sofas from China to Balboa, Panama, in September 2025, the customer gradually expanded their business with GWT. Their shipping volume increased to around 50 containers per year, with products including lighting fixtures, hardware tools, and other general merchandise sourced from suppliers in Foshan, Zhongshan, Ningbo, and several other cities across China.
As the business grew, managing the shipments became much more complicated. The customer needed to coordinate cargo pickups from multiple factories, arrange export customs clearance, handle different invoices and packing lists, monitor freight rate fluctuations during the peak shipping season, and communicate with customs brokers in Panama for import clearance and duty payment. Every shipment required considerable time and coordination.
To simplify the entire import process, the customer chose GWT’s door-to-door shipping service from China to Panama. Through our long-term agreements with major shipping lines, we secured stable contract freight rates and reliable vessel space, helping the customer avoid frequent rate increases during the busy season.
GWT took over the entire logistics process, including cargo pickup from multiple Chinese suppliers, warehouse consolidation, export customs clearance, international transportation, Panama customs clearance, duty payment, and final delivery.
Instead of coordinating with several factories, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and local delivery companies, the customer worked with one dedicated GWT team throughout the shipment. This not only reduced communication costs but also made the entire door-to-door shipping process from China to Panama much easier and more efficient.

GWT regularly ships a wide range of products from China to Panama, including furniture, lighting, hardware tools, machinery, auto parts, consumer electronics, medical supplies, textiles, and wholesale mixed cargo. Based on your cargo type, shipment size, and delivery schedule, we recommend the most suitable shipping solution, whether it’s sea freight, air freight, DDP door-to-door, express delivery, or project cargo.
When customers have regular demand for large and heavy goods as well as project cargo, sea transportation is usually the lowest-cost method.
If it is a small batch delivery, an urgent order, or high-value products, air transportation and express delivery would be more appropriate.
First-time clients entering the Panama market often get confused about the port selection. Generally speaking, Balboa port is more suitable for the Pacific direction and local distribution in Panama, while Colón port is better for goods entering the free trade zone and for transshipment and distribution operations. Choosing the wrong port will affect the cost of inland transportation and delivery time.
Most shipments from China arrive at Tocumen International Airport (PTY) because it offers the widest range of international cargo flights and convenient access to Panama City.
For shipments destined for western Panama, Enrique Malek International Airport (DAV) may be a suitable alternative depending on airline schedules and cargo requirements.
