Specific Door-to-Door Shipping Methods

Choose air freight when you need to deliver urgent, high-value, or time-sensitive cargo. It offers the fastest door-to-door transit with reliable delivery schedules.

If you have enough cargo to fill a container, FCL gives you better cargo security, faster handling, and a lower cost per unit for large shipments.

If your shipment is between 1–10 CBM, LCL lets you share container space with other cargo, making it the most cost-effective option for smaller shipments.

Choose express delivery when you need to ship small parcels quickly. It offers the shortest transit time with convenient door-to-door service.

Real Door-to-Door Shipments Case Studies

Our client is a small furniture wholesaler from Chile who makes regular furniture purchases from Guangdong, China. For this case, he needed our assistance to ship 8 pcs of chairs from the supplier’s warehouse in Foshan to Chile as a trial order. Since he was unfamiliar with import/export procedures, we recommended our door-to-door service, entrusting all logistics to GWT. GWT successfully shipped the 8 pcs of chairs via LCL sea freight to the Port of San Antonio and delivered the goods to the final address. Our client enjoyed a perfect trial shipment.

On March 15th, a construction contractor in Lima, Peru, was required to prepare the materials by the end of April. This time, they needed to have the goods shipped from three Chinese suppliers to the Callao Port. The goods came from three different cities: Shanghai, Ningbo, and Zhejiang. Having learned the details of the goods, we suggested to the client to use our door-to-door sea transportation service. Using our trucks and express services, we collected the goods from the three suppliers and consolidated them into a 20GP container for shipping from Shanghai to Callao. On April 23rd, the customs clearance and the final delivery were completed. Eventually, the client’s goods arrived one week earlier than expected, and the project was successfully executed.
Door-to-Door vs Port-to-Port: Which Service Fits Your Business?
The main difference is that DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) is an Incoterm that defines which party is responsible for transportation costs, customs duties, taxes, and risks, while Door-to-Door shipping is a logistics service that manages the movement of cargo from the supplier’s location to the consignee’s address.
Door-to-Door shipping can be arranged under different Incoterms, such as EXW, FOB, DAP, or DDP. The specific responsibilities, costs, and risks depend on the agreed shipping terms between the buyer and the seller.
Understanding the differences before shipping helps you choose the right shipping terms and clearly identify who is responsible for transportation costs, customs duties, and delivery.
The main difference between door-to-door and port-to-port shipping lies in the scope of service. Unlike door-to-door, port-to-port shipping refers to the logistics services provided by freight forwarders from the port of loading to the port of destination. Similar to door-to-port services, shipping agents expand upon the port-to-port service by adding services such as pickup and customs clearance at the port of origin. Usually, importers with long-term local customs clearance agents will choose Door-to-Port or Port-to-Port services. But door-to-door remains a cost-effective and efficient shipping method.
GWT will tailor solutions based on your specific needs.

Sea freight is usually the most economical option for large shipments, especially LCL and FCL. For small parcels or urgent deliveries, express services may provide better overall value by combining speed and convenience.
For large importers, having their own local logistics service providers is preferred, and they prefer port-to-port services to control costs.
Ordinary importers such as wholesalers and distributors, who are not familiar with the logistics process, prefer door-to-door services to reduce work pressure.
The rough delivery time from China to Central and South America is:
- Air Door-to-Door Delivery Time: 7-12days
- Sea Freight Door-to-Door Delivery Time: 25- 40 days for FCL shipping and 30-45days for LCL shipments
